P’AK (2018)

P’ak is a ritual performance based in Sufi spiritual practice and transgression. Five large bowls on the grass each contained a different material: water, dirt, postcolonial books, wine and gold party flakes. Accompanied by two drummers playing Sufi spiritual rhythms with a Daf and Damum, we performed ablutions in each bowl repeatedly for three hours on the evening of July 28, 2018.
